• The choice of sandstone •
A ceramist always has the choice between hundreds of clays. They can come from almost anywhere in the world and they all have their own qualities and inherent defects. Choosing the right material can therefore sometimes require a little thought. It is necessary to think about the end purpose of the crafted item. Will it be decorative, sculptural, utilitarian? Does it have to be waterproof? Dishwasher safe? Will it be installed outdoors? A good knowledge of the clay's properties and firing temperature is essential to select the most suitable material for the project.
For the Lagoon collection, stoneware has been chosen. It is fired between 1200°C and 1300°C. Stoneware is a raw, waterproof and resistant material which makes it an ideal ceramic material to create handmade crockery pieces as well as decorative objects with a raw or chic style that you are sure to keep for a long time.
