I offer to craft your sets of Basalt plates on request. Choose the size of your plates, they are crafted in sets of 4 plates of the same dimension.

You can choose between 3 dimensions :

• 4 bread & butter plates : ± 16 cm OR
• 4 dessert plates: ± 21 cm OR
• 4 plates: ± 26 cm

The creative process of your handcrafted stoneware plates

Your plates will be handmade in stoneware. Their rims are worked by hand as soon as the plates are created. Once the reliefs have been made, the plates begin a slow drying process before being fired at 950°C. They are then glazed with a black glaze. The recessed rim of the plate is left raw in order to emphasize the culinary preparations put in the center. The back of the plates is not enamelled. After glazing, your dinner service is cooked a second time at high temperature. As the rises and falls in temperature must be done slowly, it takes no less than 2 days of patience before reopening the kiln to discover the creations made for you. This second firing renders them sturdy, waterproof as well as dishwasher and microwave resistant.

The plates that you will receive will therefore be real handcrafted creations that will carry in them the moments of their creation in the workshop.

Why a delay of 6 to 9 weeks?

In the workshop, I work with porcelain and stoneware. In order to obtain beautiful unified pieces, I need to separate the periods of creations in these two materials.

The creation period and therefore the need to separate the porcelain and stoneware creation periods explain the 6 to 9 week manufacturing delay.

To offer you maximum flexibility for your orders, I do not stock plates. I only make them to order. The pictures presented above give you a good example of the plates you will receive.
